About the Tanya Shiur

The Tanya Shiur walks through the Tanya, the foundational sefer of Chabad Chassidus written by Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the Alter Rebbe. Rabbi Weinrib teaches it in order, drawing out the main idea of each section so the sefer becomes something you can actually keep up with over time.

The Tanya, also called Likkutei Amarim, lays out the avodah of every Jew: the two souls, the Godly soul and the animal soul, and the path of the Beinoni who serves Hashem in thought, speech, and action even while the inner struggle continues. The shiurim are numbered so you can follow the sefer from the beginning.

The Tanya, written by the Alter Rebbe of Chabad, teaches how an ordinary Jew serves Hashem. Its central idea is the two souls in every person and the path of the Beinoni, who governs his thought, speech, and action even when he still feels the pull of the animal soul.
